The scientists examined the smoking habits and cardiovascular health of more than 6000 people from 1981 - 2011 showed that smoking cessation may increase an average of 2.7 - 5.9 kg in 6 months.

Who stopped smoking more than four years to reduce the risk of heart disease by 54%. Those who do not smoke to 4 years also enjoy benefits almost similar, at 53%.
